This is an educational evening specifically directed toward newcomers to the club,
and those wishing to further develop their style, thinking ability and presence at debates.
The aim of this meeting is to allow those not totally familiar with debating,
concepts and constructs to have an event where there will be an open evening to identify:How to generating opening arguments as PM, and follow up responses of LO, MG and MO.
Listening to identify the prior speakers main arguments and rationale for them
Generating responses and well thought out logical counter arguments
Outlining your response, developing cogent speaking techniques
Using pauses, hand movements, movement at the lectern and eye contact with the audience and
Closing with the maximum effect.
We will have many of our experienced speakers and debaters on hand to discuss how they handle various aspects of debating.
Remember, there is NO SET WAY to debate.
There are rules and conventions, but you have to create your own personal style.
This is what will suit your delivery, and thinking processes.
